please tell me it gets easier

I have been on Lortab 10 for 5 yrs now.  I have Benign Intracranial Hypertension (BIH).  The fluid does not drain off my brain and spine.  So for 5 yrs no one knew what was wrong and just kept giving me more and more Lortab.  Last year I had a Dr. diagnose my BIH and he did brain surgery on me.  Now I am good but I am addicted to pain meds.  I have been taking 10-12 Lortab 10 a day for 5 yrs and I'm ready to stop.  I have cut back to 3 a day but now I'm stuck.  I don't know how to get over the hump and finish this.  I have been through all symptoms and still have muscle pain, bone aches, upset stomach, NO SLEEP, hot and cold sweats.  Please if anyone can give me advise or just some words of encouragement I would be so thankful.  I'm doing this on my own and I feel that I can't continue with the weaning down process.

CT is what i would do...why keep suffering...u will be over the physical wds in less than a week...jump off...flush the rest and star a new life....readup in the health pages on the thomas recipe...keep posting

I would definitely just cold turkey at this point. My habit is almost exactly the same as yours and I'm going to CT on august 24th, it may not be very pleasant, but its doable. It sounds like you've already been through some withdrawals and that should make your actual cold turkey withdrawal a lot less. I know people have CTed off 10-12 pill a days habit and survived. :) good luck! I know its hard, but I'm a big baby...and I'm going to do it! You could too!!

If you could have a friend look in on you for a c/t (you're going through it, practically anyway) and have a doc prescribe Clonidine and Valium/whatever, and eat, you could be out of the nasty stuff in around ten days (with improvement in the last five, I should think), then meetings or whatever ...
