tramadol detox question

I've been on and off tramadol for about 2 years never taking more than 200 mg a day and that was only for the one day, then I would go back to 175 mg etc... I am now taking between 100 and 125 mg a day and wondered if I should just taper down quickly or go for the very slow taper ( decreasing 10% every 2 days) I have had problems with tapering before. I get to 35 mg for 4 days then I get a cold etc... and I'm back to 150mg.

Hi,
I confess straight off that I don't know much because I have been taking Codeine and occasionally  Tramadol with it in the last 3 months or so and today is the first day of my giving them up. I was confused whether to tapper of slowly or just give them up slowly. I realized that even if one slowly tappers of the quantity of dope, at some point there's going to be at least some WD pain anyway and besides one needs a lot of will-power and discipline over oneself to pull it of, and you have seen how difficult that is already isn't it? if we had the discipline to tapper of and be of the dope, we wouldn't be addicted to these pills in the first place.
I think it's better to go through cold turkey for 7-8 days max instead of prolonging the agony, that's what every single person I asked who's bee through this told me as well. I am 23 now, and I think with some exercising and eating well etc, I will be well in max 15 days, so I am going for it all out now, if you can, just give it all up at once, get it over with, which ever method you choose, I hope it works for you Best of luck ...
