I know how you feel.  My family doctor also did a disappearing act.  Called me at home to tell me he would off sick for 10 days and he just didn't get back.  Luckily i already had a referral to a pain management clinic bad part was it was 2 months away.  I ended up going to the emergency a few times and then when I had my appointment with my rhuemetologist i explained my situation and he was nice enough to help me out until my appointment with the pain management clinic.  Thank god.... it wasn't just the withdrawal i was afraid of it was the pain.  I have lupus and rhuemetoid arthritis and colitis.  Sometimes my pain is unbearable. It took me 6 months to find another family doctor. There is a real doctor shortage here in Canada and doctors are being very picky on who they want as patients i got turned down by 4 doctors because i had to many things wrong with me... hello who needs the doctor the most but a sick person.  I was so upset.  So when i finally found one who would take me i didn't even care that he spoke more french then english i was just happy to find one because just after i got him my doctor at the pain management clinic retired I haven't had much luck with doctors that's for sure!!!

I hope you went to ER -- if not, please consider it. Bring along your prescription bottles (current), and they will likely treat you well.

Pick up the phone.
