I find clearing the mind of all negative thoughts helps me. I like to meditate before I go to sleep.Drinking lots of water, vitiams , exercise ,no caffeine, either in tea, coffee, chocolate,or soda.make your room just for sleeping no tv no computer. If you have to have your coffee have it in the morn and then decaf can't taste the difference.Calcium plus magnesium is like a seditave All natural.Look up on net. Please try to stay away from other meds it just screws you in the end. I used "melentonion "(spell?)in the beginning when I couldn't sleep it is natural occurring in your body too.
the best sleep helper is called trazadone. look it up. Used for alcholic rehab. non narcotic, minimal side effects. I have used it off and on for two years. Best thing
that I have ever used. the drug has been around for 50 or 60 years, so there is plenty of history about its uses and successes. It also is an antidepresent which can help.
Good luck. It takes about 2 weeks for it to get into your system. It was a life saver for me. My last alcohol withdrawl lasted 20 days, and it was pure hell. Good luck.
hi. the benadryl is a relatively safe med for short term use (as most sleep meds) and shouldn't keep you from being awakened, but it can make you a bit sedated while in your system, so keep that in mind if you have to operate machinery or be very focused on anything until you know how it affects you. the restriction of caffiene as well as getting on a regular sleep routine are usually helpful as well. sometimes i just have to stay up one night or become a bit sleep deprived in order to get a good nights rest. congrads on your sobriety so far and take care, gm
Thank you...but say if my son tried to wake me up...does it render one unresponsive.

Diphenhydramine (benydryl) helps most people sleep. It is an antihistimine for allergies so it is safe to take. 50 mg should knock you out all night.
