Struggling tonight

I am struggling tonight without a drink. My tracker shows 0 days but I was ok last night. Went through day fine, usually have no problem with this, but fell asleep late afternoon and wished I had a drink, I am not in any danger because hubby has gone on a night out and taken credit cards/money. 6.40pm in Britain.

See?So much to enjoy sober.......i tell ppl this...and it is so true as u know....the short amount of time u will spend getting your drink buzz will pale in compariosn to the LARGER amount of time u will spend regretting washing away what sobriety u have acheived thus far!It is wise to have a healthy fear of alcohol......and to think of the consequences absent of the so called immediate gratification it might...or might not bring u!:)

When I was in rehab it was suggested that I should get rid of ATM cards and only carry small amounts of cash. I often in early sobriety got cravings, went to get money from the bank, before I would get to the bank the craving would have passed.

Stick to your plan, if you dont want to drink he needs to respect your wishes.

My husband has done a run off night shifts with all money with him, I don't mind this.

Tonight he is home. If I asked him for a drink he would buy me one and buy himself one although he is diabetic. Obviously it isn't just one. It would be easy to drink but I want to press on with what I am trying to achieve. He will not drink if I don't. I keep seeing my neighbours lovely though they are outside with drinks, yesterday I got through it with a quick calculation on money. I don't know what they spend on drink but going from lunchtime on must be quite a bit. I worked our about £50.00 a week (hubby and I think 80 dollars but please don't quote us!). There is quite a lot a could spend on that, almost one weeks groceries for 2, 2 horse rides, clothes. Nicky
I had cravings last night but Campral helped.

Going for a sober evening. He will be able to look after puppy whilst watching football and I will be able to keep myself occupied on facebook catching up with friends, don't get the chance often, puppy tries to pull wires!

I am also a binge drinker and have also been a daily drinker for almost 15 years now, i have done over 6 detoxes and kidded myself over the years that I have control over my drtinking and was able to just have a beer once a week, that went great, but then i hit a crappy day and it all came a tumble, my one beer become a all nighter and the consequences was having my child took and a week in a mental institute.  Thankfully I have my child back and I am receiving treatment through my local COMMUNITY ALCOHOL TEAM, (Google it), find one in your area, and I promise you will be on the right road for a good recovery, they deal with all aspects of alcoholism, whether it is everday drinking to occasional binges.  They have great groups and great help to offer.  Trust me, you do need help, and dont kid yourself that one drink is ok, thats the drink telling you that, alcohol has a habit of becoming your best friend, then it becomes your worst enemy once it has you hooked, I have lost so much, 2 kids, a marriage, my home and almost my life, take control of the drink before it takes control of you x

we get stronger with each passing day IF we do the right things.Stay away from one drink for one day, get a meeting and remember that cravings do pass....

I wont comment on the football as we got hammered by the all blacks in rugby today lol...

Stopping by to see how your feeling today? Did you manage to find a women's AA meeting in your area? It would be a good idea to go to a meeting and get yourself a sponsor. They will help you throughout your recovery, and can be called at any time if you are struggling and need to talk. They have been where we are, and have many years clean time.
Well done for not drinking last night!

I think it would be a good idea to get rid of the wine in the house, it would be like giving up smoking with a pack of ciggies in front of you, never mind what anyone else thinks, you must put yourself first, I now have a lovely bunch of non-drinking friends whom know of my problems.

G'day :)  Glad to hear you made it through.  I'm about to go to my first AA meeting in 10 minutes.  It's Friday night here.  I had another powerfully intense day at school and am longing for that red wine on my kitchen bench.
I agree about the cups of tea.  It's a good way to reward yourself.  So, I'll be getting gallons of prizes tonight.
Take Care.
