Diluting vodka

My husband is a functional alcoholic in denial. (There's only a problem if I make any comments about it.  The comments are the problem!)  As I look back on it, he probably was before we got married nearly 40 years ago....I just didn't recognize it.  He's up to about one (1) liter of vodka per day.  He now has very little appetite, has little muscle strength, and is beginning to have issues with vomiting.  What would be a possible result if his vodka were watered down reducing the vodka strength in half?

Thanks for the support and input. I guess it is what it is until he gets tired of being out of touch. I'll just continue to monitor quantities so future medical personnel will have accurate info.

Wow bsn. I'm really sorry you guys are going through this. Tink it the nail on the head. He needs to come to the place where he admits his problem. I'll be praying for you guys today. Hang inthere!

Your solution will not resolve His issues with alcohol.  If His vodka is watered down, He will simply drink MORE watered-down alcohol to get His "fix".  Alcohol IS a drug (ethanol) and the body becomes dependent (addicted) on the substance.  Recovery of addiction is possible (of course) but the addict has to (must) CHOOSE recovery.

There is nothing You can do until, unless, when, or if, He admits to HimSelf that He is an alcoholic and takes His own step(s) to seek recovery.

Perhaps You could persuade (urge) Him to see a doctor - perhaps that will set the  motion for Him to address that His health is at issue because of His addiction to alcohol.  There is power in education and understanding.

GoodLuck
