Well iv'e just got back from the drs and am quite shocked, He says i have a severe allergic reaction and i have now got 2 epi pens and having to go to a hopital in London that specialises in allergies.
Dr said it's very unusual to go from no reaction to a severe reaction so suddenly.

The blood tests take so long because they only run certain tests on certain days .... even if it is negative, I'd still treat it with caution.
Thanks for the reply.
I went for the blood test today and won't get the results back for 10 days, i'm very interested to see the outcome.
I think if i asked the Dr for an epi-pen he'd tell me where to go :O. We have very VERY few decent Drs over here (it seems), It was just primary care i went to, and he didn't refer me apart from the blood test.....watch this space :).

PLEASE come back and let us know what your results show in your blood. I am not a Dr but a mom to 3 kids with varying allergies who carry epi-pens and have asthma, too. I am not going to disagree with your Dr, but what you describe sounds to me that it could be inflammation of the airways similar to asthma. One doesn't need to wheeze, but becomes very very tight as you describe.
Did you see an primary care or specialist?
I'd insist on an Epi Pen regardless of the blood results .. just my two cents.

Thanks for the replies.
I went to the dr who said it doesn't sound like a true allergic reaction but i'm to have a blood test to check for a nut allergy anyway.
Thanks

Hello and hope you are doing well.
It could indicate an allergic reaction. More so if repeated episodes have occurred with consumption of almonds. Allergic reactions are mediated by IgE antibodies, which are released on exposure to a particular allergen. These in turn activate mast cells and lead to a local response or systemic anaphylaxis. Antihistamines may help to relieve the symptoms.
It may help to maintain a food dairy and keep monitoring your symptoms. This will help to narrow the search and avoid them. Further allergic testing may be worth looking into.
Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
You had better avoid all nuts and treat this as a serious allergy. You may be able to research it on your own on line, but next time you see the doctor, definitely mention this new allergy.
This article is pretty good. Yours sounds like a true allergy.
