Peanut Allergies

This is a severe allergy and I wondering could it be passed down to my baby from me being allergic to it?

Some allergies are passed down to the children. I do know that the allergies of the mother are going to be more prevalent than the allergies of the father.

Hi AquariusMom15,

Welcome to the allergies- food community. I see you recently joined Med help.  How old is your baby ? I know sometimes allergies can be inherited from ones parents, but not always. Until you know for sure though whether your baby has peanut allergies too, I would be very careful to choose peanut free products. A lot of baby products now have a picture of a peanut  with a line through it meaning the product is peanut free. I know you have to be careful of products purchased from a bakery if you have a peanut allergy because bakery products often warn of traces of peanuts.
I have a niece that has a peanut allergy and a nephew that has a severe peanut allergy. He carries an epi pen with him but he is in his twenties and has had the peanut allergy since he was a child. My niece is only five years old. Her mom is not allergic to peanuts , but my niece is allergic to peanuts. You have to be careful of ice cream too as this could contain traces of peanuts.  My niece's mom is extremely careful. She bakes everything herself so there is no chance of any peanuts or peanut traces being in the baked goods. That also includes birthday cakes which she bakes herself. She buys cookies but peanut free ones. Peanut allergies are really common among children. Many elementary schools do not allow children to bring any kind of peanut product. The obvious one is peanut butter sandwiches, peanut butter cookies etc.  I'm a retired primary teacher and such a policy was in the school where I taught.  I don't know how old your baby is, but when she or he gets older, they can have an allergy test to determine what allergies they have.
