Do you mean your coughing up white flem? Usually if the flem is white there is no infection. Have you taken any Meds for your cough?
Hi, welcome to the forum, your symptoms suggests involvement of lungs and pathologcal changes. There may be underlying bronchial asthma or chronic bronchitis. Chronic bronchitis usually presents with sputum (mucus), symptoms can be worsened by chest infections. Esp. seen in smoker.
Other possibilities are central airway obstruction, parenchymal pulmonary disease, gastro esophageal reflux etc.
Treatment with cough suppressants, mucolytics and antibiotics in case of infection against prescription will help. I suggest you to consult physician. Take care and regards.
White mucus I have found is common to a smoker. It is usually not a problem, If it is yellow or green, or brown then there is some infection. White is a good color.
