severe stress/anxiety flaring up

I have been under an IMMENSE amount of stress over the past 3 weeks. Lots of crying, can't eat, can't sleep.... I am noticing that my chest tightens, my left arm will hurt, my chest hurts behind my left breast, feel like I want to pass out when it gets really bad. I get a few skips here and there but surprisngly enough not as bad as they could be. I also have been experiencing nausea, etc.
I have had ALL the test and was on medication for over a year for heart palps/skips but have been off since January 09.  Sometimes I feel like I need to go to the ER just to make sure I'm not on the verge of having a heart attack because the stress has been that bad!!  I have regular checkups w/my cardioligist, but my last one is next month.  They feel like I don't need to keep seeing them.....only as needed.  I count that as a blessing of course, but now I feel like my saftey net is about to dissapear.  I just don't know what to do.

I have been practicing my breathing and trying to drink lots of water.......  Getting rid of the stress would be ideal, but that's easier said then done.

No, no heart problems per my cardiologist.  I am under their care because I was having such severe anxiety a couple of years ago that I had to go thru all of the test, etc. to rule it out.  My last scheduled appointment with their office is actually in September.

I don't have the racing heart anymore.  I have the pvc's or skipped heart beats and that has ALWAYS been my biggest problem, thus the main reason I was on the beta blockers.

I do agree that I need to get back into therapy, especially now.  I just wondered had anyone lese out there relapsed basically.

Thanks for your response!

Do you have a heart problem and thats why you are under the care of the cardiologist or is it purely investigation they have been doing?

If it's investigation and they haven't found anything then maybe it's time to think about therapy.  By the sounds of things you are having panic attacks and severe anxiety and you need to be taught how to relax urself and retrain your thoughts to more positive ones.

Also if you were on beta-blockers and they helped with the palps, racing heart etc then can't you ask to be put back on them to stop these symtoms?

I'm sorry no one seemed to reply to your post until now.... hope you get more responses .. all the best julie
