Lexapro and feeling numb?

I've been on Lexapro for about 2 1/2 months now.  Started out on 10mg and it was upped to 20mg a month ago.  I'm feeling a little weird and I'm wondering if it's due to the medication.  It's hard to describe but I feel sort of numb emotionally.  While I'm not having anywhere near as much anxiety as I had been having, I don't like the way I feel.  It's like I can't even cry anymore even when I want to.  Don't know if that makes any sense.  Nothing really matters to me anymore I'm not happy, sad, or worried - I don't really feel much at all.  Could this just be a side-effect of the medication or what?  Anyway, I have another appointment with my psychiatrist in a couple days and I plan on discussing this with him.  In the meantime, can anyone offer any insight?  Thanks!

I do think it is a side-effect from the medication. A lot of people will report feeling no emotions while on antidepressants.

Maybe you can talk to your psychiatrist if the 10mg dose could be enough for you. Would certainly help with whatever reason you are being treated for without totally numbing your emotions.

I thought of something else....be sure and taper off your dosage very very slowly as the withdrawls can be rough. Any questions, please let me know.

Hi! I had the EXACT experience while taking Lexapro. I felt emotionally numb all the time having almost no feelings. It took some time for me to reach that stage but I stayed in it much too long. I stopped taking the drug and I am very very slowly regaining my emotions. I would recommend you taper off and if you need an antidepressent try another one! Good Luck!

Thanks for your response.  I'm actually taking it for social anxiety disorder.  It's not worthing taking though if it's going to make me feel this way.  So glad my appointment is only a couple days away so hopefully I won't have to feel like this much longer.  I was worried that maybe something was wrong with me but then figured it could be the medication.  Thanks for your help!
