I'm glad to hear you are only taking it AS NEEDED for situational anxiety.
My cousin is scared of taking a xanax too, or anything actually. He just suffers daily from anxiety, but has learned to live with it. Not a life I'd like to live honestly. He won't even see a therapist. =/
What I explained to him when he asked me "what does it feel like to take a xanax? Will it make me feel weird or scared? Will it make my anxiety worse?"
My answer to him is ALWAYS. "It will make you VERY relaxed. You won't even be able to feel anxiety, even if you wanted too. You will feel like throwing a nice blanket over you and just chillin', and listening to some good jams." :)
That's how it makes me feel. But I know longer take them. I use to take them regularly and got physically addicted.
As needed is a GOOD THING. :)
I say listen to your Dr. and take it and enjoy the car ride. :)
Hi, there - not a medical professional, but I can tell you that I've never experienced my anxiety worsening with xanax. If you haven't taken it before, it will more than likely make you feel relaxed, maybe sleepy.
Good luck on your trip - sending good wishes!
