You need to keep your mind and body active with other things.  Walking, pacing, helps along with trying to do anything that will take your mind off of the panic attack. Knowing it's a normal reaction coming at the wrong time should reassure you that nothing bad is going to happen to you. Walking or pacing anything physical gives the extra adrenaline something to work on.  Talk yourself down, by saying you know this will pass, and it's normal, just happening at the wrong time, and then try to distract yourself.  If you are not working with a therapist you may want to think about doing this.  There are also medications to help you with this.  Hope this helps and take care.

I find doing anything that one enjoys does help. Myself, I play videogames, model cars, reading, movies, pets, being around loved ones, and just staying active helps. I suffer from attacks for about 6-7 years now. I still get them but the mild ones i pass off. the big ones i resort to a glass of wine in a relaxing environment. But times I know or think that isn't going to work I'll take an ativan pill instead that is prescribed to me.
