I have taken Zoloft  several different times in the past. I cannot tolerate it after 3-6 months because of the extreme fatigue that sets in and stays until I taper off and quit taking it.Every dosage level tried. I believe the average is 100mgs a day but can vary from 50 to 200. Medications effect different people different ways.

We can't tell you the side effects because ours won't necessarily be yours.  We each react differently.  If you've decided to do this, give it a chance to work, and worry about the other stuff as it comes.  If you decide to pursue other avenues of treatment, that's fine, too, you can always come back to this one.

Hey! I have been taking Zoloft for anxiety for 4 years...I remember it took a while to kick in and start to really work to it's full potential. I think the doctor said about 6 weeks. I remember not having many side effects at all...I was a little tired and maybe a little dizzy. However, it was all well worth it because the medicine has helped me get my life back for sure! I was having panic attacks every night or even multipul times a day and I maybe have them a couple times a month now :) Another thing you should know is that it is best to take it at the same time every day and with food. Taking it with food will help minimize side effects as well. Also do not go a few days without taking it or else your side effects WILL be horrible. This medicine is one you will have to be weened off of. If you do not take it you will feel dizzy, ligth headed, tired, nauseated, horrible headache, ringing ears, and disorientated. These effects are worse the higher the dosage. I take 100mg a day...some people take more some less. Good luck and don't worry! If you start experiencing any weird side effects tell your doctor...there are other antidepressents out there that may work better for you, but give it a try if it works you'll feel a ton better :) keep us updated!!!! - Cassandra

hey i am currently taking zoloft right now. i have only been taking it for 5 days but i have had a couple side effects. for the first few days it made my anxiety go sky high, and caused me to have some dizziness. i am really anxious when i wake up in the morning but i cant say that that is caused from the zoloft or not. just because i have these symptoms doesnt mean that you are going to get them. these pills are different for everyone. but if it makes you feel any better, i was too scared to start taking them, but now that i am on them i feel a little bit better.
