Anyone else obssesively take their pulse?

Does anyone else take their pulse when they feel anxious, only to cause it to go higher?  I need to break this really bad habit.  It seems to crop up when I'm stressed, like nail biting.  thanks.

Yeah the crazy thing is I don't even get panic attacks in the sense that it takes an hour + to go away anymore like used too, instead I seem to get like 10 short worryfilled panic moments throughout the day, at most lasting about 20 minutes, and those I truly feel like Im dying since they come less often, I tend to associate them with now I'm dying hahah, its a crazy thing we have, I was as normal as they come before this, but I read in a buddist quote, that this is a spiritual challange that only the strong must deal with, it will build strength! sorry for rambling Im multi tasking but have learned to love this sight haha!

LOL!  I'm so glad I'm not the only one.  People do say WTF are you doing? lol  I do it a lot at the gym of all places.  When lifting weights the heart WILL pound.  It's supposed to.  But noooo, I have to take my pulse so I could really feel it.  Sometimes, it can throw me into a panic attack.

haha, I know its truly ridiculous, I mean foremost I am not qualified to know if my pulse is good or bad, and also your pulse changes constantly so its really not going to help, thats how I think about it and I sort of lessened my checking but when I get a big hear jump or a strong sensation for some reason my hand goes right to my throat.

OMG !! Yes I did it horrible!! I had to find things to do. Try putting a rubber band around your wrist and when you want to check it give the rubber band a good snap. It sounds silly but it does work. Or when you you want to check it clap your hands or say the ABC's backwards...just anything to try and get your mind off of it. It is VERY hard I know. If you need to talk we are here and understand. Hope you feel better!!

Wow so happy to see this, I do it excessively and my friends and family are like wtf are you doing??? I suppose I do it to assure myself Im still alive when I get the feeling of detachment  or my heart does its thing, or really any unsure feeling my body gets...and your right everytime I check it its either to fast or not fast enough (prob a good thing) and instantly it rises.  Yes I deal with this, it looks ridiculous, and yes we need to stop!
