.5 mg every other day is great. Do you have the brain zaps yet/or still? You may not have to continue tapering at this point if you don't, but if you do the .5 mg every 2 days is a great next step. After that you should definitely be able to stop completely and the fish oil caps will help almost immediately with brain zaps if you have them after stopping or even while taking the clonazepam. It will not interact with any other medications. Also at this point I believe you're out of the danger zone for seizures because you're on such a low dose.
I really appreciate the positive feedback, it really helps. I'm taking 0.5MG every other day. My plan is to do this for 3-4 weeks, then maybe 0.5mg every 2 days for a few weeks then stop completely. Is this a good idea?
And no I have not kept in contact with my Dr, health insurance is an issue though.
Hello i took clonazepam for 3 years. it was great for the time i took it. the brain zaps were the worst though. it took almost a year of tapering of them before i finally got off. i now take them as needed. and yes be careful, talk to your doctor frequently and let him know what your doing.
Please be careful. Are you tapering on your own? It can be dangerous to taper from benzodiazepines alone because the withdrawal can cause seizures. But since you're already down to .5 mg you might be in the clear from seizures. Are you taking the .5 mg just once a day? This is really good and a very minimal dose. Also to help with a withdrawal symptom commonly described as "brain zaps", which is like an electrical impulse being sent from your brain to the tips of your limbs (this is can be very uncomfortable but not dangerous), you can take omega-3 capsules which is just fish oil. You can find them in the vitamin section of your local grocery store. Take 3 in the morning, afternoon, and evening, making a grand total of 9 a day. Fish oil is really good for you and you may notice other changes such as younger looking skin and hair. Good luck and let me know if this was any help!
Yes thats possibloe. Most of the research I've seen urges a slower withdrawl than what you are currently doing. If you are experiencing symptoms then you might have to taper a bit slower.
