Can I split a 150mg Wellbutrin in half?
I'm asking because on the label it says, no crushing or chewing...so I'm not sure if splitting it in half falls under this category.
I am on 150mg now and I'm suppose to upper to 300mg but i rather split the second pill in half for about a week till i take the full 300 mg a day.

If you haven't yet started it, I think that is your best option.  Maybe just ask your doc to call in a Rx for double the tabs in the 150mg strength, that way you'll be able to take one for a while, then when you up your dose, you just take two.

I will call my doc tomorrow and ask her to change it, because i know the pharmacy will not switch the dose. I have tried this before, while I was on Prozac, and the answer was, sorry we have to give it to you as the Doc writes it on the prescription!

I don't blame you for wanting to start slowly.  Why not contact the Pharmacy to see if you can get a few of the 150mg tablets? That would make more sense, especially if you are prone to side effects.  IMO, I think that would be a good way to proceed.

thank you for your post. ok i will take the whole thing then and see what happens I'm just a lil anxious because i usually always get all the listed side effects...:(

No, you shouldn't split them in half.  Instead, ask if you Pharmacy can supply you with a few of the 150mg tablets (take your bottle in with you) until you get to up your dose.

Also, just an fyi...if your question wasn't answered yet it doesn't necessarily mean that someone won't get to it...we answer questions as quickly as possible, but of course it isn't instant.  Patience is definitely important when posting a question on a forum!  :0)

Some tablets are coated so you can't taste the inside of them. I have split one such tablet before and it was horrible. Not the sort you mentioned. But they are coated to be taken whole so you don't taste the inner part of the tablet. So if it says don't split, I wouldn't split. Unless you have a strong stomach.

I guess nobody knows.....I will ask a pharmacist until I can get a hold of my Doc.
