Constricted throat feeeling

Hi
Does anyone else suffer from this symptom?
I often feel like I have a ball of something stuck in the back of my throat or like someone is holding my throat tightly.  It makes me feel either very nauseous or hungry.  What do you do to treat this symptom?   I know its not reflux as antacids do nothing to alleviate this feeling.  I find eventually an anxiolytic such as alprazolam does help – but I don’t want to be on prescription drugs longterm and my GP won’t prescribe alprazolam (adco-alzam) long term due to its addictive properties but it is the ONLY thing that settles the anxiety/panic symptoms quite quickly and without any side effects.  I only take 1-2 x 0.25mg a day so on very low dose…

The feeling of a lump in the throat or a constricted feeling is a frequent feeling we get with anxiety in my opinion.  I know you have seen your GP, but have you also been going to see counselor about your anxiety as well?

Hi there
I do get the occasional post nasal drip but it has never resulted in this.  I have heard that this "constricted throat" thing can be an anxiety symptom.

Do you have allergies?  Could be leakage from the sinuses -- the famous post nasal drip -- that's become too noticeable to you.
