Does Your Anxiety Cause You Insomnia

Does anyone deal with insomnia induced by your anxiety?  I have horrible insomnia (can't fall asleep and can't stay asleep).  I know anxiety and insomnia go hand in hand, but I'm not certain if my insomnia is a direct result of my anxiety.

What ways do you deal with this?  I was recently prescribed sleeping pills by my doctor, but those are even hit or miss as far as helping me sleep.  Does anyone have any tried and true remedies that they use or have found to be helpful?

My doctor had mentioned that often times anxiety induces insomnia as it brings about worries that cause you inability to sleep, that's what I was wondering if anyone else suffered from it.  I'm hoping once the medication I started recently is controlling the anxiety better, I will also start sleeping better.

My anxiety did not cause me insomnia, so I don't think they go hand in hand.  A severe case of withdrawal from Paxil did, though, and it's intractable, so I feel for you.  I think the reason just plain old anxiety didn't cause me insomnia is because I exercised regularly and meditated twice a day.

My anxiety and insomnia are from vitamin deficiencies that also caused other health symptoms. I also believe perimenopause is an issue.

I cannot take sleeping pills because it causes more anxiety. Raising my iron, vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and magnesium has helped anxiety and insomnia. It's not completely solved, but a huge difference than in Sept.
