How Often Is Klonopin?

My doctor gave me a script for 1mg Klonopin, and it says to take as needed. I took one at 9:15, and I have been feeling the anxiety come on. How long should I wait between doses?

The doctor should have written a maximum daily dose on your script.  Just don't go over that.  Mammo is right.  Klonopin is not a good prn medication.  It takes at least two regular doses daily to build to a steady state.  Then it actually prevents the anxiety attacks.  Ativan and Xanax are usually given as needed.  I would definitely discuss this with your doctor.  He may even have a psychiatrist he consults with.  $35 dollars may be all it takes for the psychiatrist to review your records and prescribe meds.  You may need to find a GP more knowledgeable about psych meds.  Good luck.  At least you are headed in the right direction.

I did. I will call tomorrow morning too. I took 1 at 5:30, so it was over 8 hrs. I called my local pharmacy, and they told me it was ok. I used to see a psychiatrist, but now i have no insurance, and the cheapest one is $35 an hour. Looks like i will be saving some money up! thanks!

Klonopin is normally not given on an "as needed" basis.  It's is designed to be taken regularly so it can control your anxiety 24/7.  Xanax is usually prescribed to take "as needed". I'm assuming this was prescribed by your GP, and this is why you want a psychiatrist to prescribe your medication.  They are much more knowlegable  when it comes to these types of medications and what will work best for your needs.  You need to contact your doctor about this, we can't say how you should take it, because we aren't doctors.  Don't be afraid to call his office and leave a message today...he should have advised you better about this. Take care.
