I have never been to any conseling for anxiety or anything like this before just because it is really all to new to me. I mean I have had anxeity now for about a year and a half, so now it is getting to the point where I have to do something about it because it is really starting to affect me. I live in a very small town where there really is no conseling programs or anything of that matter, just a few doctors. It makes it hard because you have to put all your trust in them because there really is not that many doctors in the area. This is why I have been trying to battle this on my own. It is very tough. I mean I think I just need to find someone that I can talk to that will listen and could give me answers. I never had that. And the big thing is when I start to talk about my anxiety and stuff to my loved ones they play it off as a joke. They really dont know how I feel and what I am going through.
You can build up a tolerance to benzos like Xanax. It is also usually prescribed short term on as needed basis. Have you ever talked to your doctor about longer acting benzos like Klonopin that are usually prescribed more long term (Or AD like Prozac, Zoloft, etc)? During all of this, are you also recieving counseling. In my experience, medication can provide the necessary clarity to sometimes think straight, but it is only temporary...these medicines will never 'cure' you of anything. Only by learning and confronting this, will you get out of this cycle in my opinion...keep us posted!
