Need advice..

My doctor has me on 100 mg of zoloff once a day and .25 zanax every 6 to 8 hours.. I am still struggleing alot with anxiety i was wondering if it would be common to up the dose on the zanax to help me get threw my days.. this is a horrible feeling. are these dosages normal because its just not working for me..

Hi sunset.  I have struggled with this same problem for years abd years... it is difficult for doctors to find the right med mix because everyone reacts to different ones in different ways.And yes, the dosages you are on are normal (but obviously not correct in your case. I see that you have two options: continue to see your doctor, and try out different meds he may be able to suggest, OR you can do what I did: sign into a good psych ward. NOTE; RESEARCH THIS THOROUGHLY FIRST and talk to your doctor about it too.  It's a terrifying thing to do, and was a last resort for me... I could not take one more day of feeling awful.  In one week at the psych unit, not only were my meds fixed to perfection, I was taught how to cope, where to find help, how to communicate better, and how to move around freely and happily in the world.  I feel awesome now.  Best of luck - Blu

That's the thing with Xanax, you take more and then your body builds up a tolerance.  
I'm on the same dosage, but only take at night.  I'm trying to take as little as possible, so that it will continue to help me sleep when need it.

When did you start both of these meds? It can take awhile for the Zoloft to start working. If your Dr  recommended this dose of Xanax you really need to call him/her if you feel the need to take more. Yes, most Drs will prescribe .25 mgs to start with. I can only give you my opinion. If I were you I would try to hang in there and wait for the Zoloft to start working. If you increase your dose of Xanax you could become dependent on it pretty fast.
