What you describe sounds like classic anxiety. Breathing symptoms are actually very common among anxiety sufferers.
Your best bet would be to start at the doctor...explain that you would like to start addressing your symptoms as anxiety. Your doctor will then likely refer you to a psychiatrist, who can accurately diagnose you and begin discussing treatment options. In my opinion, the most successful anxiety treatment involves medications AND therapy. The meds help to control the symptoms while the therapy will help you learn all about anxiety and different coping mechanisms.
I think it's a first step you should take. You've been having these breathing symptoms long enough that if they were related to something physical/medical, your doctor would have found it by now.
Good luck, keep us posted!
Tals05,
You may think you are not under alot of stress but you most definitely are. Losing a parent is one of the most stressful things a human can experience. I'll bet this has something to do with the way you are feeling. But anxiety can be treated and controlled. The power is all within you to best it.
God Bless
ive had similar stuff to your symptoms. it all started when i felt my breathe slowly go down to a point where i felt like i couldnt breathe normal, so i called 911 and they came and checked me out and they said everything was fine. Well that week i would have shortness of breathe and just panic, constantly thinking about it and it was just terrifying. so i went to the etc they tested me for flu, didnt have that, so they just gave me allergy pills and sent me home. Well i took the allergy pills for about a week.. still felt the same..miserable,scared to death something serious is wrong with me. So 2 days later i had another episode where when i took deep breathes and couldnt get enough air so i went to the hospital they did blood work, that was fine, and i think an xray or something else i forget, but that was also fine, so they gave me an inhaler just incase (which didnt help). So after that a few days past was still shaky, and scared. well then for a week straight i felt fine, wasnt thinking about it, celebrated my birthday ect. well then monday hits and i feel shortness of breathe and such so went upstairs, lay down and just watch tv which seem to help me calm down. But now i have a stuffy/bloody nose, tingling all over my body, and just dizzyness. So im hoping what i have is just anxiety and not something more serious like MS or something else.
