Anxiety & Stomach Issues

I have to go in on the 18th of August for a camera swallowing test.. Part of me is glad to finally getting this done as I have had stomach problems ever since this anxiety stuff started and I already had an upper GI that came back normal. I don't want anything to eat, have an upset stomach and (not to be gross) my bowel movements are all over the place. I go from diarrhea ,to not being able to go at all, to going all day but no diarrhea, just constantly having to have a BM. Sorry for being right to the point. I really am looking forward to getting this test done to see if it answers any questions for me. So if I'm glad to finally be getting this done , why would I be having any anxiety? I have hardly eaten anything in almost 2 years, I just don't want to never or rarely hungry. If I do get hungry then I worry about how bad I'm going to feel after I eat.

Could someone share with me if these BM and stomach problems are normal or not? They seemed to have gotten worse starting last week. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Maybe you misunderstood me, I have never had an ulcer that was ruled out in the upper GI. I wouldn't think it could be food allergies as I normally don't eat, but I have thought of that. Thanks for getting back to me.

"Camera swallowing test!" Sorry Suz, but I just had to have a giggle about that! I hope you aren't thinking they're going to make you swallow a full size digital camera!

OK, getting serious here. An endoscopy is a very painless procedure and even the part of having a tube shoved down your gullet is allievated by some pretty amazing drugs. You will be wide awake during the procedure, but trust me, you won't care about any of it!

In answer to your questions, naturally I would have say no, your "all over the map" BMs are NOT normal nor is the fact you don't feel good after you eat. It's really smart that you're going in for the endoscopy which will rule out anything major. Since you already know you have an ulcer, my first reaction is to think that it has gotten worse over time. What kind of ulcer do you have?
Have you been keeping to any diet they may have put you on?
Has your stress or anxiety levels increased recently?
Have you ever seen an allergist to rule out any specific food allergies?
I can't eat anything with gluetin in it..............if I do, I have the most horrid reflux and camp in the outhouse!
For most of us when we go for any kind of medical test, our anxiety levels skyrocket. We can't get away from all the "what if's" even if we ARE looking forward to finally getting an answer to what is causing all the discomfort. Even folks who aren't prone to anxiety get a bit of the "white coat" fear thing going before a test. Your anxiety is normal..............try your best to not focus on that, which is not easy, I know. Or simply accept that you're going to feel anxious until you get those test results. Change what you can, accept what you can't.........it will all be over soon enough!
I feel very confident that you don't have anything seriously wrong with you and the docs will soon be able to put you to rights.
And don't be thinking about cancer or other such stuff..............you would have far more serious symptoms if that was the case!
Please let us know as soon as possible what they find, OK? We'll all be here waiting!
Peace
