chest sensations

Hi my names tom miner and I'm twenty years old. My doctor recently diagnosed me with anxiety, this was mainly based on these strange panick attacks I randomly got. It started with this pressure in my chest in the are of my heart. I am a smoker so I have been afraid of blood clots and things of that nature which further made my anxiety attacks feel very real. Knowing now that it was anxiety seemed to help me feel better about it, for awhile at least. I have been afraid of my doctor giving me a wrong diagnosis which keeps my anxiety very alive. Recently I have been experiencing an icy feeling in my chest and sometimes it spreads up my left arm and under my left armpit. It feels like I need to stretch my arm but this doesn't provide me any relief. Is this sensation also a symptom of anxiety or is something else wrong with me?

Yea I think I will try the fish oil, it sounds like a good idea. I know I should quit smoking but I always seem to give in. Thanks for the advice

At your age the incidence of a heart attack is almost so low you could put it next to lightning strike. Also around 25% of cardilogists clientele are panic and anxiety sufferers pretty good considering we are only a minority of the population.

It's anxiety. BUT give up smoking before you actually do have a problem 20 years from now, and if you are a PA / Anxiety person like us you will want to avoid actual bad news. You shouldn't have much of an issue quitting at such a young age, a few days of pain and than gone, no more worries about blood clotting. Also take a gram of fish oil a day which thins your blood and prevents blood clots so long as you are not allergic.

You can read about fish oil all over the web. Good Luck.

Yea I tend to think the worst in most situations, I've found that if I assume the worst thing will happen, at least it won't be a surprise when it does. I'm assuming my negative thoughts don't provide me with a nice comfort bubble that repels anxiety. Instead I've provided my anxiety a nice breeding ground.

Already feeling better just by reading that. I'm on meds but they make me drowsy and exhausted. In the process of switching them for something different. Thanks a lot, and your right, the mind does play tricks on you.

Anxiety can cause and manifest any and ever symptom you can think of , never understestimate it. I had a stress test and an EKG because it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest, I was sure I had a heart problem, even though I was only 25 yrs old. After the test my chests pains suddenly became alot less jhjhm7kuhn nn, the mind can play tricks on you and create physical problems that aren't  there, I woudl recommend therapy and medication. Also having tests done can sometimes help. Its money and time so thats up to you, I had to get it done , just to make sure. BUt don't be surprised if once you realize that is okay you start stressing about another issue. TRy to relax!!
