I think the scope is just for my esopagus, he wants to rule out acid reflux inflammation. His second guess is muscle spasms.
2 weeks later, I felt a similar attack coming on. I over reacted and so did my body. I was rushed to the hospital and I was treated for asthma. Only, this wasn't asthma because I felt no relief from the prednisone or mask they gave me. That's when this all started. It's like my body has been in shock ever since.
Altough I've had all the habits of a person who would be deppressed or anxious. It was normal considering I isolated myself for a long time. Still, I'm driven and I love life. I've been in a rough patch emotionally but I pulled myself out. I started working out, looking for jobs, persuing my passion for music. I was feeling good! but then... over a month ago just before this all started I had a frightening asthma attack. It really scared me, I hadn't experienced asthma so suddenly like that before. They treated me at the ER and I was on my way. [continues]
I don't have a history of anxiety on paper. I haven't been diagnosed. All my emotional stress is stemming from the physical pain. Unless this is a sub-conscious under lining mental problem causing me physical pain. I do tend worry a lot. About family, my future, life. I have a tendency to over think. I don't worry about my health unless I have a reason, like right now. I agree, I really want to rule out the medical cause, that way we can start an appropriate treatment. My ability to cope is only getting worse with every day. No PFT test, no pulmonary function test has been done.
Do you have any history of anxiety? Aside from anxiety related to the symptoms, do you FEEL anxious, for no reason? Are you a chronic worrier? Any history of worrying about your health?
While anxiety certainly may be the cause, it's important to complete the process of ruling out a medical cause. I agree with calling the office to see if they can move the scope up a bit. Are you having a bronchoscopy (scope of the lungs?) Is this doc a pulmonologist? Have you had any other tests, like PFTs (pulmonary function test)?
Keep us updated on what's going on. I sincerely hope you get some answers soon.
I'm not over weight. I'm an asthmatic but they have told me my symptoms aren't asthma related.
I've had 2 EKG's, a couple x-rays, a couple blood tests. Nothing was wrong. It isint acid reflux.
My apologies I wasn't actually finished been accidentally hit the send button. What I was saying was called the doctors office and speak to their nurse explained that it is worsening. You shouldn't have to wait this long Have you had a chest x-ray? Disorders can cause shortness of breath and rapid heartbeat but technically there are other symptoms with it. I would try to get back to your doctor while you're waiting and possibly get a small prescription for anti-anxiety meds and see if that helps (or whatever else the doctor thinks it may help medication wise while you're waiting)
Hi there your symptoms are very difficult to diagnose just from the description unfortunately. If your doctor is concerned there's something wrong with your lungs and you're still having these issues I would call his or her office to the process along
