scared

I have been on alprazolam for eleven years and my doctor deside to stop giving them to me for no reson at all. I was due to go in for a pill count and I was working a eighteen hour shift and not able to go unless I wanted to lose my job. The point is that when I go to take care of my father there are so many dope heads on the strret that they think I will give them my meds and  I have told them over and over they r for me and me only. The only thing I can think is that I was called in on, saying I was giving them out and me not showing up for a count did not look good but doc refilled last months and told me no more. I do not understand! I need this medacation and I feel really bad to the point I wont even leave the house fearing something will happen to me. As much as I have read on this, it is not good for myuy health for me to just stop. I have been taking 180 tabs a month six a day 1mg.What should I do?

Go to another doctor. Alprazolam (Xanax) is known to be a very difficult drug to deal with and if your doc is a psychopharm he has to know this. He is responsible to see that you taper down or to refer you to another doctor or a psychiatric outpatient clinic.

Why would he just stop presc?  Any dr. knows you could have withdrawals and seizures life threatening, by just stopping.  Go to another dr. ASAP.  Don't wait for it to happen>

Your doctor can't just stop prescribing the pills. He must tapper you, although it will probably not be an adequate tapper. He is liable for your problems due to an abrubt dicontinuation. If this doctor is serious about this, you should talk to him about a slow tapper with klonopin or valium. See www.ashtonbenzomanual.com I can't imagine you having a seizure would be in his best interest, but I've seen all kinds of doctors out there.

It is the doc doing this, I just contacted the head of hospital and they r looking into this. I have read so much of what can happen to me because of him just stopping and refusing me them. I need to be slowley taking off. If it is posssible. Getting to the point that I will buy off the street for my safety. Tina. And Thank You

your on 6 mg a day. wow . you can not just stop the meds, it can cause all kinds of problems you have to wing off of them, your dr knows this and you been on them way to long just to go off them, you need to be going in to see him, so you can wing off and start on something elsa if he wont give you something you need to be finding a dr that will dont wait till last min only you can make sure you are taking care of yourself.
