questioning mental health

i wasnt really sure where to post this, so i apologise if its in the wrong place

1) as of late ive become more introverted around people in general. i rarely speak to my mother even though i live with her, and at college i am saying less and less. i do fine at college modules themselves but i find myself often wondering away from where all the people are to play guitar (its a music college)

2) everytime i walk past someone on the street, i immediatly look behind me to make sure they dont attack/mug/threaten me, and i dont know why i do this. also often when walking down any road i tend to make sure people arent following me, and if someone has been walking down the same road as me for even a few minutes i begin to get paranoid about being stalked.

3) anytime a conversation is started up between me and someone from college i always find myself trying to end it quickly, using one word answers or an excuse to leave (unless its someone i hang round all the time).

4) i used to have a few friends from secondary school. however with each one of them i have entered an unusual mood and became angry at them, often for no reason, other then me being paranoid of things i think they have done behind my back. (none of the things ive ever accused them of doing have ever been true).

are any of these things symptoms or signs of social anxiety?

Yah - I'd say it's time for some outside help.  Therapy may be suggested as part of your treatment program.  I'd jump on that for sure.  It can help you in all sorts of ways.

Wishing you good things  :)

It could be social anxiety, paranoia, or depression causing you to lose interest in everything.  Only a professional can diagnose exactly what is wrong.  There is lots of help with therapy and medications, and you need to take advantage of this so that you can get your life back.  Sometimes you will find out thru therapy what is the root of this, and be able to deal with it and move on.  But often we never know and must take medication to live a normal life.  These should be some of the best times of your life, don't miss them.  Take care...

Hello. Your symptoms may indicate an anxiety disorder, but you should get a professional evaluation. These things can have both physical and psychological causes. I have similar feelings when talking to others one on one, even though I know they are irrational. I've also been playing guitar 20 + years, and it is usually therapeutic as it gives me release and a focus. Keep in touch and know you're not alone. Take care, GM
