Thanks for this answer. I have heard so mny times it was a stimulant and i sure don't need a stimulant. I feel as if I am wound tight already.
Wellbutrin is not recommended for anxiety. It is for depression, and since it is stimulating a depressed person, it can inflame anxiety problems. It can even give people manic episodes. SSRIs treat both depression and anxiety because serotonin is implicated in both, but even those have caused many people to become more anxious and sometimes manic. Yet, there are people whose anxiety has decreased with wellbutrin. The truth is, nobody really knows enough about the brain or these drugs to give you a definitive answer; most of our information and that of our psychiatrists comes from pharmaceutical companies, who do not have our best interests at heart.
I did not hear it on this site, I heard it from being around other people.
Hi Sassy,
We are all just members like yourself. The best answer we can give you is our own experience. Wellbutrin acted as a stimulant for me. If you've been told sooo many times that it's a stimulant and not good for anxiety, why don't you believe us?
You may want to go to the Ask a Doctor side or you could just google it
Good luck!
