Rapid onset Muscle Fatigue

I am a 22 yr old female. Up until 2 months ago I was running 3+ miles per day and biking at least 5 times per week. One day I could not run as far because I felt tired. The next day it was worse. By the end of the week, I couldnt even walk up stairs without my quads feeling like I just finished a marathon. This issue has persisted for 2 month. Anytime I try to exercise, my muscles get abnormally sore and take days to recover. I have also gained 15 lbs (10% increase in overall weight) despite eating 1200-1500 cal per day. All tests have been normal (see below) and i am not pregnant. Does anyone know what could have such a rapid onset, but last for such a long time? My doctors have given up.

If you are certain that your haven't let the calories creep up, then the source of your weight gain is likely a strong hint as to what's going on. Sounds like you have discipline in your life wrt exercise and diet. I was faced with a similar problem as well so I starved myself in desperation being a former weightlifter/bodybuilder, but this only made matters worse since it made my blood albumin level drop and this causes even more water weight to occur.

My muscles feel like I've done a full body weight lifting session every morning, then I am able to start moving and stretching which helps a bit but not completely. That's key to many AI muscle/osteo issues - the joints and muscles start out poorly after a rest period and tend to loosen up after movement. And it's like you describe, feels like a "marathon" for me just to walk thru the house sometimes.

HI SuddeenlyWeak and welcome to the forum.

I just "lost" my entire  rather lengthy reply to you, "bleep", listing all the various possible flaws and discrepancies in your tests.
Since no actual results were given, my comments are generalized.

--Vitamin D 25 Hydroxy . Look into vitamin D resistance, if low fat%, low cholestrol or vitamin D resistance genetic mutation activated.
You will need a lot of of supplementation with vitamin D3/K2 combo,
if at the lower to middle of the range.

--Vitamin B12 Level , lab ranges too low compared to EU and japan,
will not indicate neurological B12 (methlocobalamin) deficiency
--Sodium/Potassium ratio must be considered
--Magnesium, tissue levels are significant, serum levels are tightly controlled.
--Calcium/magnesium ratio must be considered.
--TSH, the least useful thyroid test. You need Free T3, Free T4 AND Reverse T3, which will also indicate type 2 hypothyroidism (thyroid resistance) which is not checked, unless you are treated by a doctor who treats according to Dr Barnes protocols. Please look it up, as your
symptoms indicate hypothyroidism.
--Cortisol, Urinary 24 hr free . The jury is out on this test.
Personally I prefer the saliva test. Look into Adrenal Test Profile:
Cortisol x 4, 2 averaged *DHEA-S (saliva)
*DHEA is "not well established" in conventional medicine, even though it is the most abundant steroid hormone in the body!

I did not see any reference to iron levels testing, any reason for this?

Please let me know what you think. I can then give you more details, how you can go about it.

Best wishes.
Niko
