Please read, need feed back !

I have a few questions but let me start off with my symptoms.

I have lower back pain that wraps around the hips, and thighs, it feels like at times like someone kicked me in the tailbone, I swell up in my hands and ankles especially when on feet awhile,  I have inflammation in the eyes  they are always  red and my right eye has pain and pressure.  i get these odd twitches in my upper left arm and shoulder.

the pelvic pain is like sharp stabbing pains if i go to walk or turn a certain way, i get these deep achy feeling in my uppers legs and thighs.

I do have a vit. D definincy , i hear alot of cracking and popping in my hips when i bend over.

I had an MRI done awhile back and it said i basicially had a herniated disc and 2 buldging discs, some spondolotis in my L4-5  alot of free fluid in the right side of pelvis,  and my s1 nerve roots where being abunded .

Now i got a xray done at the begining of the wk and they said it was fine.  I just dont get it how can my MRI  have some problems  but not the xray  and again the MRI  was done last yr. but the xray was just done.

my doctor is sending me to a rheumotolgist .

my symptoms come and go , I  can a few months of feeling fine and then boom and each time feels worse .

does this sound like an autoimmune disorder ?

my mom has bone and joint disease and alot of back problems and so did her mother , my grand mother.
my grand mother also had bone cancer among other health issues .

i am just wondering if this sounds like i should be going to a rheumotolgist or stay with my neurologist ? or go to both ?

I am just wanting feed back not a diagnosis and if these symptoms sounds similer to yours or someone u know.

Thank you, Bella

Yes you are!  I agree with your hubby.

Do yourself a huge favor and stick with the fundamentals.
When there are outstanding issues with nutritional/vitamin deficiencies like Vitamin D and impaired thyroid function, there are so many things that can go wrong in the body, it simply does not make sense to move on more investigations until they are either totally ruled out or truly corrected!
The main reason being is that:
1. Gene expression and activation is what makes numerous processes
get turned on or off, for the efficient operation of the body.
With low Vitamin D, there are possibly hundreds, if not thousands of bodily functions which get affected. There are vitamin D receptors in all our cells!
2. When thyroid function is low, our body does not repair itself properly and healing from anything easily, as these functions are energy dependent
and take place at specific milli-volts inside the cells.
Cellular debris from the ongoing cellular apoptosis (programmed cell death) under low thyroid function does not get processed and eliminated,
thus causing an immune reaction against the body( leading to autoimmunity). Another function of the thyroid besides the removal of cellular waste is to activate enzymes responsible for cellular waste.
I strongly believe that at the foundation of most A/I diseases, low thyroid function is very prevalent.
In my next life, I think I will be an Auto-Immunologist, lol! a specialty which does not exist today.

Another thing to rule out is low methylocobalamin which may not show up on an MMA test. To be certain, either a Homocysteine CSF test, or a methyolcobalamin- sublingual drops-supplementation challenge (easier
than the latter test) can be done. This is in light of your vitamin D deficiency, which may cause low B12 and other deficiencies.
There are other possible complications, but this is a very important one, as it may be further affecting neurological function.

Best,
Niko

Thanks again for all the info, I also have a curved/ bent optic nerve i beleive its in my right also . and i keep getting this clear hard bubble like on my inner lip , it comes and goes .

i use a symptom checker lol  and it keeps coming up with

Behçet's disease ,  Reiter's disease , uvietis , and a few others which is just insane lmao ...

Hey Bella, anytime.

I have the feeling that your condition can be greatly improved,
once you manage to get a couple fundamental imbalances/deficiencies under control.

Here's the information which I think may be helpful:

----- Problems with Vit D absorption, assimilation & resistance to vit D-----

--General Inflammation and G/I inflammation(very common with low thyroid or low adrenal sufferers) Leaky Gut Syndrome, Crohn's, Colitis. etc.
-- Low fat diet or issues with fat digestion also relating to not enough cholesterol for hormonal AND vitamin D synthesis ( Vit. D is fat soluble)
-- Obesity
-- Certain drugs
-- High Cortisol
-- Vitamin D Receptor (VDR) gene mutation  ( genetic /autoimmune) or decreased VDR expression, common with Hypothyroid & Hashimoto's sufferers also.
In this case need increased levels of D, above and beyond normal serum levels, for optimum function.
Sublingual emulsified D3 drops are probably the best, but in case of VDR,
you may need a high amount, probably 10000 IU daily or even higher.

                            --- Low Thyroid Function---

As far as serum testing goes, the most indicative & accurate for cellular thyroid function are: Free T3 (fT3), Free T4 (fT4) AND Reverse T3 (rT3)
All 3 are needed!
fT3/rT3 ratio is probably the most reliable marker for low cellular thyroid function. A ratio over 20 is desirable.
Please forgo the standard T3, T4 and TSH as they miss more hypothyroidism than they detect! They only test for serum circulating levels and not hyroid function, so should one be thyroid-resistant (more prevalent) it will not be detected.

To my opinion though we cannot find a better method to test than Dr. Barnes Basal Temperature Test. (there are several versions now)
I have devoted countless of hours, scanning through the studies and groundbreaking work of Dr. Barnes, The Father of Hypothyroidism, lol!
Simply brilliant and way ahead of his time!

Instructions For Taking Basal Body Temperature:
Use an ordinary oral or rectal glass (not digital) thermometer.
Shake down the thermometer the night before, and place it on your nightstand.
The first thing in the morning BEFORE you get out of bed, place the thermometer under your arm for ten(10) minutes.
Record the temperature reading and date right away!
Repeat for 10 days.
Normal Range: 97.6 to 98.2
Averages below indicate hypothyroidism.

Note that in the presence of any infectious conditions,  these results may be inaccurate and this could be a problem with chronic low grade infections accompanied by low grade fevers, for the purposes of the temperature testing.

I hope it helps.

If you have any questions, I'm just a click away.

Thank you for response, i just found out about the Vitamin D deficency , i have noitced in the past yr or so that I can not tolerate milk anymore, it makes me sick the next morning and gives me alot of gas, bloated, diarihha . ect ... so i rarely drink it . same with icecream and shakes !

yes that would be great on VDR, all or any info is a great learning tool even if that isnt whats wrong its still good to learn. I do work in the medical field and i am always eager to learn all about medical stuff.

I just wanna know what is going on with my body, my eye sight seems to be going slowly , i see as what they call floaters  but to me they look like big fuzz balls stuck in my eyes especially when i look at something white .

My right eye has all the pain in it , and i do believe has the bent optic nerve root in it . that is 20/80  my left is 20/60  i am near sitghted in one eye and far in the other , i have astigmatism .

I was thinking it may be a thyroid thing, only bc now no matte rwhat i do i cant seem to shed a pound , a few yrs back i did lose 30 pounds and now i have gained it all back and cant seem to lose anymore since then. like i said i do work in the medical field at a hospital so i am always on the go and the way i walk it like speed walking so i would have thought ide shed a few pounds or so but nope i just kept gaining it back since i started there almost 2 yrs ago .

I greatly appreciate your feedback and all the info you can give me .

Thank you ,Bella

Bella, I'm sorry about your suffering.

It is confusing with MRIs, which show detail in soft tissue
and X-rays which show detail but mainly in bones and dense tissue.

Your suffering could be explained easily.
Well, of course I cannot suggest a diagnosis, but definitely you have a serious issue with the low vitamin D.

1. You do not metabolize calcium properly.
Unmetabolized calcium can migrate anywhere in the body(soft tissues, in between joints, eyes, etc) and cause problems.
Another issue is possible interference with thyroid function.
If you look up hypothyroidism, you will find an infinite list of symptoms.
And the worse part is that the body never heals properly while thyroid function is low.
The risk of developing autoimmune disease is also greatly increased.

2. Vitamin D activates numerous enzymes and genes that work on the digestive & G/I systems, where there are the most vitamin D receptors, where the assimilation & absorption of B12 and  most of other nutrients and vitamins takes place AND where about 80% of your entire immune system is located !

3.  Adequate vitamin D  is required to prevent your immune system from going into hyperactive and excessively inflammatory state or autoimmune
response.

4. Vitamin D is necessary for gene expression. It is involved in the activation of hundreds of genes, associated with vital functions in the body.

There are no intelligent drugs, no doctors' elaborate diagnostic and treatment protocols that compare with what vitamin D can do for you!

Why is you vitamin D low? Have you tried to correct your deficiency?
Have you ruled out vitamin D resistance (VDR)?

If you need details on VDR or anything else, let me know.

Best wishes.
Niko
