desiccated disc - 1. Disc with reduced water content, usually primarily of nuclear tissues. 2. Imaging manifestations of reduced water content of the disc; or apparent reduced water content..
Spondylosis deformans could possibly represents the normal aging process.
Ventral (front) Spondylosis: also known as spinal osteoarthritis is a common degenerative joint disease that is due to aging and time related wear and tear on the vertebrae (bones) of the neck and back.
Disc desiccation: Each intervertebral disc has a lot of fluid in its central portion. The high fluid content gives these discs the soft, spongy quality that allows them to act as a cushion and shock absorber between successive vertebrae. As we grow older this fluid in the intervertebral disc reduces, and the disc becomes dry and hard. The result is back pain in regions corresponding to the intervertebral disc desiccation as the discs are unable to act as shock absorbers and the vertebrae experiences greater friction.
Both of these things in most cases are part of the normal aging process.
