Reddish brown discharge.

I'm currently on the pill and have been for a few years. I take the pill everyday, but sometimes i don't take it at the same time everyday. I usually skip the sugar pills and only allow myself to get my period every 2 or 3 months.
Lately I've been having unprotected sex and my boyfriend ejaculates inside me. Sometimes i get cramps during sex in the area where my ovary's are, But i continue having sex anyway, even though its a bit uncomfortable.
Afterwards i'll go to the toilet and when i wipe i notice sometimes i have light reddish discharge.
I didn't pay any attention to it.
I took my beige pill yesterday and i was going to take my sugar pill today to get my period.
I had some cramps yesterday, like the ones i was getting during sex. they feel like period pains but i don't usually get period pains until i've been on the sugar pills for 2 or 3 days.
then today i woke up and went to the toilet and wiped and i had a reddish brown discharge.
A few hours later it was a bit heavier so i put a tampon in.
What is it?
I've been a bit paranoid that i could be pregnant, because i've been extremely lethargic lately and because i have unprotected sex..
Could this be a sign of pregnancy? even though i'm on the pill?
If not, what else could it be?

Well, now its getting more red then brown. its starting to look just like my period, but i shouldn't be getting it this soon, should i?
I mean, even if i was going to keep taking my beige pills today, i wouldn't have had a chance, the bleeding had already started when i woke.

It could be a sign of pregnancy but brown blood is old blood which could mean that you have had a functional cyst burst or you could still have a cyst.
