How months it takes to have normal cycle after stopping BCP

Hi,

I have been on Yasmin for 1.6 months now. I have stopped taking pills for the past one month now and I have missed my period this month. Could you please advise if this is normal and how much time does it take to come back to normal cycle?

Hi,

Thanks for your comment.

My cycle just started today. I hope everything will be normal now and we can plan our baby.

Hi there,
There is no exact time when your periods will regularize after stopping the birth control pills. In few women it may take 1-2 months. There may be a prolonged period of amenorrhea in few women after cessation of combined oral contraception. There may be post-pill amenorrhea seen in few women. In this condition there is failure to resume menstruation within six months after discontinuation of oral contraceptives. In case you do not get your periods by next month plan a visit to the gynecologist. That will help.
Best of luck!
