Is Diane 35 along with an IUD Ok?

Hi Drs I was placed on Diane 35 when I was around 14 by my gynecologist for POS ive been on it for years and im now 29 As the Pill does not provide 100% birth control I wanted to know if I was able to get an IUD as it has no hormones therfore wont effect my pill for my POS, but is sounds very effective as an extra barrier of protection just incase I ever forget to take my pill or the condom breaks like it did twice in the last two weeks and I had to take the morning after pill twice in two weeks which I was quite unhappy about. Ive just started being sexually active again after 3 years.
Please assist. Many Thanks

There is an iud without hormones called paragard. I thought you were talking about Mirena iud which has hormones. As for the paragard, it's hit or miss. The reason why I personally opted for Mirena instead of paragard is because a 99% success rate while paragard only has about 90%. Also, mirena stops heavy menstrual bleeding, while paragard causes heavy bleeding and worse cramps. I've heard of women being on a birth control pill and having paragard but they complain constantly about their side effects all the time.

You're way better off using a combination of your pill with condoms, and add FAM (Fertility Awareness Method), which is now more easy than ever since there are so many different apps you can use on your phone to track your cycles.

I already replied in your other post where you asked about getting depo while on diane35. The same answer applies here. You will not find a competent doctor who will prescribe more than one hormonal birth control at a time because, as I already told you, the risk of serious side effects is increased and the doctor doesn't want you to have an adverse effect and have you sue them for prescribing it.

Just use condoms with your pill and you'll be fine!

Talk to your doctor.  You'd want something other than the Mirena IUD as it has hormones.  The pill is just as effective as a condom if used properly.  If you have problems with forgetting, I'd recommend a cell phone alarm and keeping the pill with you so you can take it without fail at the same time daily.  But if you are interested in an IUD, talk to your gynecologist about it.
