Please Answer!

My baby is 8 weeks old, and today I just had the Mirena put in. Right now I'm throwing up, shaking, dizzy and I have a little fever. Is this normal? Or am I just sick? I'm scared. Has anyone had a bad reaction from Mirena?

I'm on my 3rd Mirena and I did not have that problem with any of the times it was inserted. The dose of hormones in it is not that high so if you were having a sensitivity problem with the hormones, that would be unusual. The spotting can last a few weeks but eventually goes away.

Awww...just try to take it easy. I will tell you my friend's Ob/ Gyn said that if you have a reaction to the hormone you will always be sensitive, so definitely watch yourself these next few days. 8 weeks after delivery is hard all by itself! Take care of that precious baby!

My friend had the exact same problem. She had the same symptoms the rest of the night. They were gone after she slept but she never stopped spotting. That lasted a month. She gave up and replaced the Mirena with a copper Paraguard- instant success! & it lasts longer. I, also, had the copper IUD. I had it for 13 years and I was fine. Had it removed in May and was, happily, preggers by August. It is very safe.

You should get it removed, perhaps your body is rejecting it. At lesat that what it sounds like.
