Hello,
Once pregnancy occurs , menstrual cycles cease. Pregnancy occurs when the egg is fertilized by sperm, becomes an embryo and attaches to the uterine wall. If there is no fertilization the innermost lining of the uterus is shed off due to the sudden drop in the levels of progesterone.  In case pregnancy occurs, the hormone levels rise, maintaining the thickened lining inside the uterus and preventing it from being shed. So the fertilized embryo embeds in this lining.

Since you have had your periods the next day after intercourse, so the chances of pregnancy are impossible. The lining of the uterus to which the embryo would have attached has been shed off.

I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted in case you have any additional doubts. Kind regards.

Heylo doc,
I am a really worried, can u pls help me out with this. I had unprotected intercourse on the last Wednesday and then took Ipill. My expected period date was this Friday. However I did not have my period till now. I have checked the ipill site and they said that period date can be delayed by few days at normal circumstances. Now the problem is I had sex again today (Sunday) and we used condoms. But unfortunately the condom slipped and I am bit afraid. Pls note I took Ipill on last wedneday (3days back). What should I do now?  I have 3 questions basically:

1. will the Ipill work and give protection till Sunday (today’s intercourse)
2. should I take another ipill tomorrow within such short span of time.
3. What are my chances of getting pregnant.
4. can I test myself using home pregnancy test kit detecting hcd level. I mean can it detect a pregnancy within 24 hours of sex?
