Meningioma ..Watch&Wait or Surgery..

mri results..  There is a stable avidly enhancing mass in the Pineal Region posterior to the corpus callosum, which again measures 2.0 cm in craniocaudal dimension and 1.8 x 1.6 cm in axial dimension ..This again demonstrates isointense  T1 and largely Isointense T2 signal with some central lower T2 signal, and avid homogenous enhancement after contrast ..Dural Tail is agsin visualized.........Impression:   Stable pineal region mass with characteristics most suggestive of meningioma, however, additional pineal legions remain a consideration and continue follow up is recommended...   Should I continue to watch & wait with yearly Mri or should I have it removed?

Please become an informed patient - you have copies of your MRI reports - get copies of your labs as well.

That way you know if they are testing you properly as well. Then  you know if you are really okay. I was told the *oh yeah it is all okay* thing then I went back and got copies and found out it was not - doc offices are busy, they spend little time now, please be pro-active.

Imaging is one thing - but how are your labs. How are your symptoms? Can you sleep? What are your melatonin readings?

In my readings (only a layman, not a doc), 2cm appears to be a larger size lesion for that location, so I would go on symptoms. Is the notation on stable do to that this is a follow up MRI?

I would see a surgeon that does pituitary surgeries - that way they have the endoscopic equipment to remove the lesion.

In that location as well, there can be a bit of mass effect issue - it is chock full of sensitive areas. So I hope you have been having labs on more than just standard things IMHO. Do you get copies of labs?
