Arachnoid cyst

Dear ALL,

Just want to get your idea and recommendation about my sister case which was diagnosed with below findings...

"This showed a well-defined extra-axial cystic abnormality measuring 4cm in the right frontal region very close to the vertex.  This follows CSF on all sequences and therefore was thought to be in keeping with an incidentally detected arachnoid cyst.  There was no oedema, mass effect or midline shift and no abnormal signal was seen on diffusion weighted imaging.  No posterior fossa abnormality was seen."

I read and saw some forums that similar case of my sister but it will be helpful if at your-knowledge or experienced can tell me after effect of any treatment?

On the findings above is there any case that it require an immediate  treatment?  Honestly, I asked it just because of financial support that it may required.  Any idea how much it will take for this treatment?

Thanks everyone for your giving an attention to my question and concern.
Hoping for any one feedback...

Thank you for your response.  This gave me much more higher level of confidence with regards to my sister's case.

Yes, hope everything will be fine for her and for you too.

By the way, when did you had the brain surgery?  If it's okay with you I would like to know if any thing change from your mood from the time you had the operation?

My apologize Ms. Rumpled to call you Sir, its really difficult to know.

I hope everything will be fine. On the scale of those types of cysts, it is on the smaller size, but location can be and is a factor.

I had brain surgery myself and now the real risk is in anesthesia and infection. As long as you have a skilled surgeon, it should be fine. The usual operation for this, per my research is to remove some or all of the cyst wall so it cannot refill.

I am a woman - but I realize that is pretty hard to tell LOL!

Thank you very much for your response and advised.
My Sister is currently working as overseas worker in UK.

At the moment, she is working on the medical check-up schedule for Neurologist.  Some symptoms were observed like headaches and dizziness.

I will keep you posted once she talked the Neurologist.
But I'm praying that everything will be fine for her.

Honestly, I'm afraid that she needs to go for operation and what might be the after effect of operation for her case.

Again, thank you so much Sir.

I don't know where you are located, but many state or cancer hospitals will take on cases such as your sisters (or should) for reduced or no fees. I would shop around.

However, in reading the report, you have to see that it was *incidentally found* and there is no *oedema* (swelling*) or mass effect - in other words, it is not large enough to have any effect on anything that is next to it.

She should be monitored - and the doctor SHOULD explain as I am just a layman so you cannot take my word as gold here. When is her appointment? It may still cause headaches or have other symptoms - so ask.
