Hello--
I'm 24 years old and am in generally in good health. A little over a year ago, I found some slightly enlarged lymph nodes under my right armpit, simultaneous with side pain and some tooth infections (all seemingly unrelated). I sort of freaked out and called my doctor, who said she could barely feel the nodes, and that because they were so small and moveable they were probably nothing. She also says because I'm so skinny, I probably feel them more easily then someone a little heavier set would. She ran a CBC twice and that came back normal. So I've been keeping an eye on them for the past few months, and they haven't seemed to change much (not as far as I can tell).
Since then, the side pain and teeth problems have gone away. The lymph nodes remain the same, as far as I can tell, but off and on I'll have armpit tenderness, usually not in the enlarged lymph nodes, but in other areas of my armpit. This doesn't usually happen in the left armpit, in which I can feel a few little lymph nodes, but nothing like in my right. I've also been have some pain in my right breast for about three weeks. It started sort of above the breast in the thicker tissue there, but since then has mostly been a low-grade burning pain behind my nipple that comes and goes and is more distracting than anything. I'm planning a trip to the doctor, but I'm pretty sure she'll blow it off as nothing since I'm so young. However, I don't want to overlook something that could be serious, even if there's a very small chance. Should I push for additional tests, like an MRI, mammogram or ultrasound? Or should I talk my doctor at her word if she doesn't think there's a problem?
Thanks so much!
