Radiation & soap with Titanium dioxide

I recently finished Radiation therapy and was trying to find a natural sunscreen instead of a regular chemical one.  I discovered that many natural sunscreens contain Titanium Dioxide which is used to block the UVA/UVB rays from the sun.  I also learned that most regular soaps contain Titanium Dioxide such as Dove etc. While doing radiation I was instructed to use Dove soap.  Also,  I was told not to use any deodorant on my treatment side so I always took a shower 1-2 hours before my radiation therapy.  Could the Titanium Dioxide in the Dove soap caused the radiation not to be as effective?   I called the company that makes Dove and the person I spoke with was not very knowledgable, she told me that it is used as a colorant but she is not sure if has sunscreen properties. Could the Titanium Dioxide in the Dove soap caused the radiation not to be as effective?  Now I am VERY WORRIED!!!!!!

Origins makes a bar (and gel) soap, free of titanium dioxide! I absolutely love the scent and skin feel after use. Hope this helps!

Hi,
Microfine titanium dioxide are particulate sunscreen ingredients that absorb broad-spectrum ultraviolet (UV) irradiation.
Since Dove contains it you have been told not to use it.
How-ever there are  a couple of things you need to consider. First it is a soap, not a sunscreen lotion. So the chances of it coating your skin is far less.
Also most sun screens are not effrctive for more than 4-5 hours. S ince you have created a time gap between your bath and treatment. hopefully you have negated any blockade effect.
Ideally you should follow all instructions to a t especielly in an issue as important. It is for your benefit.
Anyway hope for the best.Regards and God bless.
