My annual mammo showed microcalifications in a small area. They did additional views and they were clustered. The rad recommended a sterostatic biopsy. I had that done on 5/28 and the pathology report said: Focal Atypica Ductal Hyperplasia. Fibroccystic changes including interlobular fibrosis, micro/macrocyst formation, cloumnar cell change and adenosis. Microcalcifications are identified and associated with benign ductal elements. The rad and my obgyn recommended an excisional biopsy of the area, which I had done on 6/12. They told me this was standard recommendation when atypica ductal hyperplasia was diagnosised. The Pathology Center that my excisional biopsy was sent to yesterday informed by doctor that they needed a second opionion on the slides and have referred my slides on to another pathology center. I am a wreck!!!!! I don't understand why it is being referred on. This is really scaring me and all my doctor would say was that they wanted a 2nd opinion before the final report was given. Has anyone ever ran across this before? Any support would be appreciated. I am almost 100% sure it is cancer and they aren't telling me. Its bad enough waiting for the results, but now that they have to go to another Pathology Center, it will be another week. Thanks
