What to do??

I had an excisional biopsy done 3 weeks ago.  Results were benign.  Problem is, the surgeon "missed."  Told I have to do it all over.  The problem is, this is a very palpable area, it's not like it's microscopic.  She said she would speak to me in the OR and make sure we had the right area, in addition to her notes and diagrams, that I may not remember because of the anesthesia.  She took out normal breast tissue, but was expecting to take out a lymph node.  Don't surgeons know what a lymph node looks like?  Am I supposed to accept that "this happens sometimes" when I knew where she was supposed to cut??  I am very upset and not excited about working with this surgeon anymore.  Any suggestions?

My opinion only but I would find another surgeon as I feel this is NOT acceptable medical practice. True there are mistakes made as we are after all,only human but you are not required to accept these errors. Find another Surgeon !!

I had taken the films of the mammo and ultrasound to her, but she had me take them back to the hospital, she said she didn't need them, as she could feel the lump, she would be able to know right where to operate.  If she had only asked me while I was fully awake, this would not have happened.  I feel she made so many mistakes.

So sorry :(  I'd say it's not common at all for surgeons to "miss" palpable masses and lymph nodes especially since they have mammos and ultrasounds to assist them. Have a different surgeon review your case. That is not acceptable at all.
