adh

Hi on April  14th of this year I had surgery to remove an area of atypical ductal hyperplasia it was not cancer. The doctor told me that I was cleared to go back to my normal yearly mammogram. My question is the dr told me  I was still high risk for getting breast cancer because of the adh. Does that mean I could get adh again or other forms of breast cancer and if I am high risk at what percent would that be?

The additional treatment is given to lessen the chance of developing breast cancer in the future; not to treat the ADH which is NOT cancer but is often referred to as
pre-cancerous.  Take care .....

As a rule there is some additional treatment after surgical removal of ADH .... this is never cancer but it does increase your risk twice that of other women for developing breast cancer in the future. Often Radiation as well as Hormone Therapy (if appropriate) is recommended after surgical removal of ADH.    Regards .....
