Going for right mastectomy and oopherectomy tomorrow

Hi guys!

I am so honored to be in the role of community leader for the breast cancer community.  I wanted you to know I'll be out for a little while as I'm having an elective right mastectomy and oopherectomy tomorrow.  This is at the advice of my genetic counselor with whom I learned I'm BRCA2 positive.  I'm going to maximize my chances of never having to go through this again and my opportunity to live a long, long life.

I'll be back as soon as possible.

Thanks for being part of the breast cancer community.

Warm regards,

Chris

Is it weird to address a posting to myself?  I just wanted you all to know that I'm home and made it through all three surgeries with flying colors.  I was on the table for 8 hours!  Yikes.  Glad to be on the other side of this.  Feeling well, and I'm so appreciative of all the positive thoughts from all of you.  Let's all keep moving forward toward wellness.  Warm and supportive wishes to all of you -- there is mighty strength in numbers!

Fondly,

Chris

God Bless you and keep you while on this tough journey.
Being BRCA2 positive too, I had bilaterals after diagnosed in 12/03. Had my total hysterectomy 10/04.
I don't regret either surgery and quote you:
"I'm going to maximize my chances of never having to go through this again and my opportunity to live a long, long life."
God Speed!
