I just got my results of my mammogram and they want to do more studys, but I would like to know what it means when they say In the retroareolar aspect of the right breast, there is an asymmetric density which measures approximately 8mm?
It means that behind the areola there is an area that looks different - thicker - darker (any of those terms) and it is approx. 8 mm in size. The additional studies will be different views (from different angles) and also they will be concentrated on that particular area rather than the entire breast as well as be magnified to produce a better picture of the area they have described. This is NOT an unusual procedure. Regards ....
