sore breasts and black disharge

I am 46 years old, a mother of three, had a complete hysterectomy overies included about a year and a half ago did not use any hormone replacements, went "all natural!" I have noticed my right breast feels rougher {skinwise} thicker maybe, and very tender. Especially around the ariola and nipple. it gets very rough and dried, cracked even. I have gotten alot of outer cysts under the breast, and have a small dimple from where one of the cysts were, it was definitely from the cyst, which white "stuff came out of, more hard but not rock hard, anyway lately i have noticed a blackish discharge from that nipple the whole breast is sore, but the nipple is extremely painful. if anything rubs it or just lays on it it is very very painful, and i can take alot of pain!! i also have multiple bumps all around the ariola sorry im not spelling this word correctly but im sure you get my meaning!! some of these bumps, for lack of a better term are larger then others and they are not cysts they are tender also, some seep not all. what has me a little freaked is the black discharge i do have lumpy breaste, i always put it down to cysts and didnt think to much about it, should i be worried, or is this normal? I was told by one Dr. that it was hormones, well seeing that i had a hsyterectomy with the removal of my overies, i didn't see how that could be possible, but figured he knew more about this than i did, he is the Dr.the discharge that happens on its own i believe is clear, but when it is touched black pours out. just tell me i'm worried for nothing and i will feel better!!  my son was born when i was 29, ages of my children are 17, 14 and 10 if that matters {of course it matters to me!! i am roughly about a size 40 double if that makes any difference either! i am using my 14 year old daughters e-mail because i don't have one but will have her set one up for me. I will check this site and if you want to send me an e-mail, just mark it for mom and she will not read it she is very good about things like this, i also had a stroke a few years back, and i do have heart problems, which my nitro takes care of believe it or not i am very active, and don't let much get me down!! I have been very blessed with my children and they complete me heart and soul. lucky to have them, gilleygirl

Hi there.

What is happening to your breast maybe due to hormones or the lack thereof.  Other possibilities include intraductal papilloma.  This is a benign lesion that usually causes bloody nipple discharge.  Infections with bacteria or fungus can also lead to these skin changes and likewise cause this form of discharge.  Paget's disease can also initially present with nipple changes but can have an underlying malignancy.  I suggest you take this to your doctor for additional testing (Mammogram or ultrasound).  Regards and God bless..
