i went to see my local doctor whom told me it was an infection from the core biopsy from 4 months ago she gave me flucloxcillion 500mg which i have been taking now for three days with no change to my breast although the tablets hasve been giving me pains in my chest that i thought may be heartburn so i have been taking antacids with no effect what do i do now         ????

Hi.

It is rather very hard to pin a recent breast infection to that of a biopsy that was done 4 months ago, though it does occur rarely.  If ever this happens, this is usually due to indolent infections such as tuberculosis or other atypical bacteria.

More common explanations for what you are experiencing now would include breast pain and swelling from fibrocystic or other benign breast changes.  Also, there can indeed be an infection (mastitis) that is not related to the previous biopsy.

I would suggest you have this seen by your doctor and receive the proper treatment.

Regards.
