I had something similar on my back. This was about the size of an average pea. Two physicians thought it was just a cyst and that nothing needed done with it unless it began to change. I had this for 6-7 years. It never got any larger, but did begin to itch and became a little uncomfortble when someone would scratch my back and their finger would go across it. I decided to have it removed as it started to concern me. When they removed it, the pathology report came back showing a rare type of cancer called dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans. This is a very slow growing cancer, but locally aggressive. I had to have another surgical procedure called a wide excision to remove more tissue and hopefully all of the tumor that was underneath the skin. I have learned not to put off getting ANY growths of any kind removed, even if they seem harmless and are not causing any pain or problems, as you cannot tell for sure if it is anything to worry about or not without a pathology report. I encourage you, and everyone else to do the same. It may be a cyst or something quite harmless, but until you have it removed and analyzed you won't know for sure. It is much better to err on the side of safety. It also will put your mind to rest knowing for sure.
I've got tissue lumps like the ones you described too. I was worried that they were toxic or something. Mine aren't cysts but feel like a lump of tissue. And I've had two doctors say that that's exactly what they are, but get them checked out if you can. I've got them around my waist and one on my rt. forearm, just a lump, no color changes, or symptoms. Best Wishes ~
I've had several lumps as you describe. They've all been cysts, which are usually harmless. I did have two of them get infected, which is very painful, so I get them removed now just to prevent future infections that I'm apparently prone to. But there were no cancer concerns with them. Don't hesitate to get them checked by a dermatologist if you're concerned.
