Any Ideas?

My 4yr old castrated male cat has, for the past 2 years been visiting the vet with various aliments, mainly concerning his mouth.  The first diagnosis was periental desease which was treated.  He had been on and off antibiotics for the 2 yrs.  His main symptom is a painful mouth which stops him from eating well.  He offten has a mucuse like dribble, on occasion when really bad has blood (from his gums) in.  During the dribbly times his mouth often swells. He also has bad breath. Antibiotics or a cortizone shot clears this up, but the longest time he has gone with out meds is 21 days.  He also takes fluis as there are times when he does not drink.  Last winter he had liver and kidney trouble (thought to be caused because he was unable to eat properly).    They have cleared up but his weight still fluctulates a lot - I give him a calorie paste with his food.  His body temperature his constant but below that of a regular cat.  At new year he had he regular blood works done and an ultrsound to check his internal organs with nothing amiss.  Although his fur has not grown back yet.    Our vet had being great and about the only test he has not had is a pregnancy test!!!! She has come to the conclusion that he suffers from various allergies showing specific sensitivity in his mouth. He is generally ok and does not suffer.  I was just wondering if anyone out there had experienced anything similar??

Oh my your poor kitty is in a tremendous amount of pain!!!! Has your Vet never recommended removing the teeth? I am very sure he is suffering from a condition called STOMATITIS this is very very painful and can lead to oral cancer....
along with this he may also have a condition called FORLs....this is decay under the gum line as well as the exposed teeth. and only shows on xrays. I have one kitty with this condition and he has had many teeth removed....
Do you have access to a good Oral Veterinary surgeon where you live? I strongly suggest you find one and take your kitty there asap....he cannot be left to suffer like this....have you ever had a tooth ache? if so you will know what it feels like to have every tooth in your mouth aching at one time.
the antibiotics and steroids are only bandaids that relieve the inflammation for a short time, they DO NOT cure or treat the condition...
I will send you a few sites with more info on Stomatitis and also FORLs.has your Veterinarian never mention this to be the problem???
Please find a good oral specialist for your kitty, full mouth extractions are usually the only way to achieve positive results..:(
